I've been working in charcoal more for the last several years. The first one is based on a photo I accidentally took of myself and my husband Steve on the West Side of NYC. I was actually trying to grab the name of a thrift store on an overhead sign so that we might return. It's called, appropriately, "The Accidental Selfie." Charcoal on paper. Approximately 17" square.
The next two are drawings of "My Guys," that is my son, Sam, and his Dad, Steve Hanft. Both are charcoal on paper, approximately 16x15" and 14x13.5".
Cows and cats also favorite subjects. The Brown Cow is both charcoal and pastel. The others are charcoal on paper. Sizes vary but all are a minimum of 18" in one direction.
